The Essence of Glamour is a vintage-inspired classic burlesque lounge with an emphasis on underrepresented bodies coming to Chicago.

Spawned by the producer's unending quest for the lavish but also society's need for more representation of bodies of size, of color, of trans experience and more on the stage, this fancy evening features sultry sensations from across the nation as well as some of Chicago's very own burlesque figures, dancing to a variety of jazz classics and some contemporary tunes, and dripping utter opulence. The emphasis on underrepresented bodies does not mean it is exclusive to them, but it does make them priority.

Produced by Jezebelly of Chicago's exclusively plus size burlesque troupe the Femme FATales, the lineup includes Genie Adagio (NYC), Crocodile Lightning (Chicago), Siomai Moore (Chicago), Deeva Rose (Minneapolis), and Venessa Chevelle (RVA), as well as many more!*

Ticket prices go up to $30 and $45 respectively at the door. Must be 18 years of age to attend, 21+ to imbibe in the signature cocktails.

Note that the Newport Theater is a historic building and unfortunately does not have elevator access to the event space. Attendees must climb a flight of stairs.
